Obituary of Layne Wood
Peacefully at home in Rideau Ferry, Ontario, surrounded by her family, on Sunday December 13th at the age of 78. Dearly beloved wife of the late William James (Jim) Wood. Mother of Laurence (Sharon), Darlene Magee (Steve), George (Cymbria) and Norman (Miriam). Grandmother to Justin (Courtney), Tori, Emma (Jason), Megan (Jesse), Frances, Damien, Ryder and Pascale. Predeceased by parents Laurence and Ruth Godard, Layne is survived by her brother Steven (Connie) Godard and her sister Sue Loker as well as many nieces, nephews and her sisters-in-law Grace Wills, Isobel Covell and Carol Wood.
Layne is now with her Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom she put her faith at a young age growing up in New Brunswick. After marrying Jim, Layne moved to “the Ferry” where she was a devoted farm wife and mother. Following Jim’s passing in 1988, Layne used her teaching training and was a regular substitute teacher in Smiths Falls. Affectionately referred to by many as “Aunt Layne” she was fully devoted to the Lord and to those who loved His name far and wide. She especially cherished all “her babies” and cared for a great number of children over the years. Layne’s cancer was only recently discovered and she leaves behind many family and friends who, although they know she is “far better with the Lord”, will miss her dearly (Philippians 1:23). Our mother’s greatest wish is for you to have assurance of your Salvation. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (insert funeral arrangement details and also donations to a cause of your choice)
