Lawrence Shirley Alders
Lawrence Shirley Alders – age 74, of New Minas,
passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2020. Born in Kentville,
he was the oldest son of the late Lewis and Mildred (Alders) Walker.
Living in Aldersville, prior to his move to New Minas in more recent
years, Lawrence enjoyed the contentment and the quietness that the
country lent him, while working his woodlands. He took pride in his
pairs of oxen he owned over the years, loving the days when he would
show them and participate in many ox pull exhibitions. Needless to
say, he had a great collection of ox bells and ribbons. Lawrence lived
a quiet lifestyle but loved the opportunity to share a chat over a cup
of tea and reminisce. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Atwell, New
Minas; sister, Mary Hiltz, Greenwich; brothers, Gerald (Margaret)
Walker, Winnipeg and Clayton (Cathy) Walker, Chester Basin and several
nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by grandparents, Brenton and
Jennie Alders and brother-in-law, Keith Hiltz. Cremation has taken
place. In keeping with Lawrence’s wishes, there will be no
visitation or funeral. A private family burial will take place at a
later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Victorian Order of
Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch. The family would like to graciously
thank the VON for their care and kindness in their support to
Lawrence. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
