Peacefully at his home in Waterdown on September 24, 2020, days before his 79th birthday, Laurence Cooper passed away. Married to his bride of 56 years, Sonje (nee Newton). Cherished father to Karen (Pat, predeceased), Pauline and Donna (Kenny). Proud Grandfather to Amy, Nolan, Marshal, Robert, Holly Austin and Owen. Brother to Malcolm (Betty), Mick (Margie), Laura (predeceased) and Kath (predeceased). Brother-in-law to Joe (Sue) and Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Laurence served as a radio operator on minesweepers and aircraft carriers, in the British Royal Navy and gallantly “defended the realm.”

The family would like to give special thanks to long time friends Tam and Gladys Seath and Rachael Hanigan for their support. The family would like to extend appreciation to VON nurses Jenny, Cheryl, Bonnie, Joyce and Amir for their dignified care. Thanks to the Oncology Department at Joseph Brant Hospital for their support and care.
If desired, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion, Waterdown Branch #551 would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
Please sign the Tribute Wall for Laurence and leave a message for the family.
