KENNETH (KEN/KENNY) ROBERT TERRICK
June 14, 1953 – November 14, 2020
Peacefully with family by his side on November 14th, 2020, Ken passed away at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Ken will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Rita, daughter Kelcie (Andrew), son Kurtis (Candice), brothers Norman (Annerose), Ron, step-children Jerad (Kandice), Kara (Jaime), Mark, and Steven (Chantal). He was also Poppa Ken to 6 grandchildren. Ken will now join his mother and father Lillian and Fred, and brother Bryan Terrick in heaven.
Ken was born and raised in McCreary, Manitoba, a place that he always held dear to his heart. Ken had a variety of careers, and the one he was most passionate about was being a butcher. Later on Ken went back to school to pursue a career in accounting where he worked for Wescan Electric until he retired.
Ken always put his family and friends first. He loved to entertain and cook, was an amazing host and always had a meal ready for anybody who would walk in the door. Ken would do anything to make everyone feel at home and welcome. If he wasn’t calling to check in on you, he was phoning to tell you about a hot fishing spot or a deal on prime cuts.
Ken was a fan of many sports. He spent many of his younger years playing hockey and baseball and was an avid curler and fisherman. Ken was a proud father and has passed his love for the outdoors, sports and entertaining on to his children.
Ken fulfilled his lifelong dream of having a spot on the lake to call his own. He was able to find this in Laclu where Ken and Rita created many wonderful memories and gained meaningful friendships. Right to the end Ken appreciated the wonderful life he enjoyed with his loving wife, family and friends. He guided us to become better people, and we are so very grateful for the life and time we had together. Ken will be remembered most for his kind-hearted nature, friendliness, and easy-going attitude. His final request would be that you spend time with your family, head out on the lake and drop a line in the water with your loved ones, crack a beer and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond.
In accordance with Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will follow at a later date.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the Palliative Care program. In memory of Ken, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
