Obituary for
Ken (Karl) Sobkiw
July 18, 1940 – May 1, 2020
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, brother, and friend, Ken Sobkiw.
Ken was born in Lamont, Alberta and spent his childhood years in Chipman, Alberta before residing in Edmonton.
Ken was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed a variety of pastimes including; hunting, fishing, photography and was an avid reader. He was a life-time member of the Sherwood Park Fish and Game Association. He was also very proud of his past achievements including; Sky Diving, White Water Rafting, Mountain Climbing and Cave Exploring. In later years he enjoyed spending time at Pigeon Lake with family, and playing golf.
Ken had the special ability of making friends and he had many because he always had a huge smile, and a loving heart.
Ken leaves to mourn, his son, Bill (Arlene); and daughter, Dawn, both of Edmonton; brothers, Bob (Shari) and Steve (Jackie); and his sister, Sunday. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his wife, Florence; parents, Karl and Mary; and his brother, Danny.
A special thank you to the staff and residents of St. Andrews Care Centre for their care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, Edmonton, AB.
Due to current conditions this Service will be held at a later date and will be announced in this paper.
If one so desires donations may be made in his name to the Alberta Lung Association.
