Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Keith Harris (formerly of the Kindersley area) wish to announce his passing on November 30, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
Keith F. Harris March 21, 1931 ~ November 30, 2020
Keith F. Harris was raised on a dairy farm 3 miles south of Yorkton. He attended Pebble Lake Public School and Yorkton Collegiate. Keith graduated from the School of Agriculture in Saskatoon in 1953. He worked numerous jobs in central Saskatchewan – in Carragana, Aylsham, Edmonton, and Coleville before going to Esso Petroleum at Smiley in October 1954. Keith worked at a training centre for oil production.
On October 17, 1958 Keith married Jean Philip of Carragana. Jean was a full-time R.N. employed at Kindersley Union Hospital.
In October 1959 Keith entered self-employment under the name “Harry’s Oilfield Maintenance Ltd.”. Harry’s Oil was constantly evolving from pickups to backhoes and ditchers for pipelining, to vacuum trucks as well as a condensate hauler. Whatever he was asked to do for pay, he found a way! Over this time he helped raise 3 boys and a girl to complete a family, along with several dogs and cats.
In 1991 “Harry’s Oil” semi-retired after 32 years of labor. Due to an oil slump at this time, equipment was not sold, but rented out as needed. When times again picked up, equipment sold quickly making a full retirement possible in 1995. Keith found the oil industry an interesting place to work. He enjoyed his life in the “contract business”.
Keith belonged to Kindersley Lions, Kindersley Flying Club (owning and flying his own plane), and Kindersley Cubs & Scouts as a leader.
Keith enjoyed travel with truck and trailer, including trips to Mexico, Baja, Nova Scotia, and six times across the Arctic Circle.
Keith and Jean celebrated 62 years of love and happiness on October 17, 2020. He leaves behind wife, his 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He and his words of wisdom will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Keith was the kind of guy who would anonymously change a random stranger’s tire, just because he noticed it was flat while waiting his turn at the doctor’s office.
All dogs loved Keith, and he loved them right back!
