July 3, 2020, at Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley,

age 74, of
Valley, Colchester County, passed away surrounded by family on
Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at home. Born in Truro on October 31,
1945, she was the second daughter of Smith and Mabel (Matheson)
O’Connell. Upon graduating from Central Colchester High
School in 1964, she went to work for the Department of Agriculture and
Marketing in Bible Hill. She retired from the Farm Loan Board in 1997.
During this time she made many lifelong friendships. Times were
enjoyed with family at the cottage in Fox Harbour and travelling
throughout the Maritimes and New England States. Cooking and crafts
were an important part of her life, creating many needlepoint and
cross stitched pictures. Kay was a member of the McCulloch United
Church in Harmony where she looked after printing the bulletins for 20
years. Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Henry of 52 years,
and daughter, Julie (Ken MacInnis); sister, Alice (Ivan) McKenna;
nephews, Dana, Dwayne; great nephew, Colin; brother-in-law, Walter
Langille; nephew, Ancel Langille; niece, Heidi Langille. Besides her
parents, Kay was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Langille. Special
thanks would like to be passed on to Dr. David Henderson, Lisa
Weatherbee, all of the nurses who cared for Kay in the Colchester
Hospital, all the VON nurses and Home Care Workers. Arrangements have
been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street
Truro, from where visitation will be held 6 ~ 9 pm Friday, February
14, and funeral service Saturday, February 15, at 2 pm, Rev. Dan Gunn
officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment to be
held at a later date in the Crossroads Cemetery in Valley. Family
flowers only. Donations in Kay’s memory may be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society, or to the McCulloch United Church. Private
