Memorial Donation
Joseph Maurice Landry, Age 86, passed away peacefully on October 21st at the Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital with his wife of 64 years by his side. Born June 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles and Beatrice Landry.
Maurice was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, and was a proud and decorated Veteran of the Korean War.
He devoted his life to his family and loved having his grandchildren around the house. Some of his favourite pastimes were having a game of cards and going to bingo with Lucille.
He enjoyed anything that involved the outdoors, and watched for his deer in the backyard in his chair by the window. If he wasn’t at home sitting in his chair or at bingo, you were sure to find him in the gully.
He will be missed by his loving wife Lucille and their two children Barry (Becky) and Lawrence (Janet); son in law Carmine. He will also be missed by his brother Donald (Marie); sisters, Marie (Conrad), Patsy, Emily; sister in laws Joan Fougere (Eddie), Jean; grandchildren Carmine Jr. (Jesselyn), Tracy (Vernon), Angela (Glen), Evan and Nicole; great grandchildren Taven, Teagan, Liam, Lex, Kaleigh and Kyle. He is also survived by godchild Nola and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by brothers Ennis and Ferd; daughter Marlene; brothers in law Joe and Alfred; and parents in law Edwin and Mary Bona.
Cremation has taken place. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held Tuesday, October 27th at 11am followed by a public graveside service at the Saint John the Baptist Church in River Bourgeois. Social distancing and masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saint John the Baptist cemetery fund, or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury.
