Obituary of John Henry Murphy
With heavy hearts, the family of Jack Murphy, loving husband of over 60 years to Rose Marie (Comeau) Murphy, announces his passing on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at his residence in Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born March 18, 1938 in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Joseph John and Eva (Gogan) Murphy.
Jack was devoted to his family and his church, Holy Spirit Parish- St. Rose Worship Site. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus and the Legion of Mary. Although he worked various jobs in his younger years, he retired from Security Mechanical as Office Manager after 36 years.
In addition to his wife, Rose, Jack is survived by a son, Michael “Mike” Murphy (Mindy); daughter-in-law, Keely Murphy-Polenz (Jeff); 5 grandchildren: Lauren, Morgan, Reagan, Megan, and MacKenzie; brother, Gerald (Pat); sisters: Betty Donaldson (the late Bob), Sandra Clarke (Ronald), and Susan Schrader (Arnold); brother-in-law, David Black; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his son, Joseph “Joe” Murphy; granddaughter, Madison “Maddy” Murphy; and sister, Ann Black.
Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425), with visiting on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Please join the family and friends in praying the Holy Rosary with the Legion of Mary on Thursday at 6 pm, and there will also be a Knights of Columbus Tribute at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Spirit Parish- St. Rose Worship Site on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10 am. A reception will follow at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home’s reception centre. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
