Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, John Radomski, fondly known as “Dido” on February 27, 2020 at the age of 91 years. John will forever be remembered and missed by his loving wife Olga of 67 years, daughter Laura Murphy, grandson Jonathan (Amber) Murphy, & great grandchildren, Mara and Mackenzie. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister Olga Glanville, sister-in-law Mary Nelson, nieces and nephews, Max (Kathy) Radomski, Lisa Glanville, Randy (Alice) Doherty, Barry Doherty, Kirk (Chantal) Heuser, Mia (Greg) McClung, Debra(Troy) Cook, Stephen(Paige) Brygadyr, and John’s extended family. John was predeceased by his parents Peter and Anna Radomski, his brother William Radomski and son-in-law Jim Murphy.
John was a family man first and foremost and was always there for them. He treasured all his friends and neighbours and always enjoyed his coffee times and many conversations with them. Even after retiring from a career of farming, John always remained a farmer at heart. He loved watching cattle grazing, the crops maturing, the moose and deer passing through his yard and continued to worry about how the weather would affect the farmers. His green thumb and grafting skills were evident as he nurtured his many fruit trees. We would like to thank everyone who visited John, sent cards, called and provided a shoulder to lean on. Thank you to the medical staff for their compassionate care of John at both the Mazonkowski Heart Institute and the Smoky Lake Hospital.
Time will never erase your presence in our lives. We will always remember your smile, kindness, humour and special moments shared.
At John’s request, there will be no funeral service. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, tribute donations can be made in his name to: Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, co the University Hospital Foundation, 8440-112 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 2B7. Donations can also be made online: www.universityhospitalfoundation.ab.ca/Tribute_Memorial
“I farmed the land,
I trampled the wood,
These are things I understood.
No grand schemes, they passed me by.
I knew the brook, the hills, the sky.
To hunt a bird, to wet a line,
Gifts from God, so good and fine.
Friend and kin, I loved them so;
Although I’m gone, I’m sure they know.
I’m now at peace, life’s battle done,
I’ve faced the foe and I have won.”
