John “Leigh” Christie
1969-2020
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of John
“Leigh” Christie at his place of residence in Calgary,
Alberta on October 3, 2020. Leigh was born in McAdam, NB on February
28, 1969 and is the son of Mary Ellen C. (Randall) Christie and the
late John “Reed” Christie.
Leigh loved trucking and Peterbilts. He could drive anything on
wheels and never ran late for a load. Leigh was a hardworking family
man, an avid Nascar fan who could always be recognized by his leather
Dale Earnhart Sr. #3 jacket. He excelled at putting together models
and customizing them in his own way.
Leigh leaves to mourn, his only son “JR” Christie (Meagan)
who he was so proud of; his mother Mary Ellen Christie of Harvey, NB;
his siblings, Kevin Christie, Alberta, Tanya Copp (Neven), Elinor
Christie (Dale), Laura Bernard (Peter), all of Harvey, NB; several
aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews who looked up to him so
much; his chosen grandson Dax MacDonald and Leigh’s companion
Sebine Kuiper, Alberta.
He was predeceased by his father Reed Christie, an infant sister Sheri
and grandparents Jack and Thelma Christie and Vernon and Catherine
Randall.
Visitation will be held at Swan Funeral Chapel, 1826 Route 3, Harvey
Station, NB on Friday evening, October 16, 2020 from 7 to 9 pm. A
private funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020
from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rebecca McGillicuddy
officiating. Interment at Harvey Settlement Cemetery.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Leigh, the family
has suggested the Harvey Settlement Cemetery, Children’s Wish
Foundation or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation.
