John James’ Obituary
LOCH BROOM – John James Stewart, 69, Loch Broom, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alexander Robert and Dellas Helen (MacDonald) Stewart. Prior to retirement in 2007, John was employed with the Chignecto Central Regional School Board. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and going for drives, especially to Tim’s. John was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf and NASCAR fan. He was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 34, New Glasgow for 49 years. John was a very sociable person, who looked for the best in everyone. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Janet; daughter, Agnes (David) Leavitt, Westville; son, John J. Stewart Jr. (Chanda), Loch Broom; grandchildren, Alex, Darrell (Karli), Kevin (Sylvia), Justin, Jessica (Taylor), Austin and Sophie; great grandchildren, Carman, Damien, Brooklyn, Anastasia, Hayden and Athena; sisters, Virginia MacLeod, New Glasow; Cindy Jeans, Trenton; brother, Alex Stewart, New Glasgow; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will celebrate his life with visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 20th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
No flowers please. If desired, donations may be made in John’s memory to his family.
The Stewart family wish to thank the Canadian Cancer Society, Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit and 4th floor staff and QEII, VG site, 8th floor staff for their care and kindness.
