Jessie Maude West

It is with saddened hearts that family and friends have
learned that Aunt Jessie has come to the end of her life. She had been
blessed with good health, thoroughly enjoyed her working career, her
independence and willingly accepted old age. She felt life had been
good to her and she was ready to join her loved ones who had gone on
before her. Jessie Maude West, age 97, of Berwick, formerly of
Cambridge and Halifax, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in
Grand View Manor Berwick but not before she penned her own obituary.

for Citadel Motors where she received the General Motors Accountants
Certificate of Membership. When the company sold, she accepted the
position of Branch Accountant with Montreal Trust, retiring in 1988
after 28 years of service. In 2005, she returned to the Valley and
resided at Camro Place, Cambridge. Jessie was the last surviving
member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by brothers,
Bronson, Garnet and James; sisters, Cora Roscoe, Ruth Hamilton and
Betty Finnigan. She was also predeceased by sister-in-law, Greta West.
She is survived by brother-in-law, Kenneth Finnigan; sixteen nieces
and nephews; many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. A special
thank you to nephew, Kenneth Roscoe and niece, Cathy Foley for their
love and concern over the years. Jessie enjoyed travelling and crossed
Canada many times She had various tours overseas with friends, the
highlight being in 1990 when she attended the Passion Play at
Oberammergau, chipped a souvenir from the Berlin Wall, visited the
Monastery of the Black Madonna, Auschwitz Concentration Camp and the
old historian city, Krakow, which was once the capital of Poland.

attended regularly and took part in many activities including the
U.B.W. Missionary Society and Women’s Auxiliary. She was an
avid baseball player and was inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of
