Age 81, of Saulnierville, passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Friday, May 1st 2020, with family by her side. She was the eldest daughter of the late James (Jim) Thibault and Adèle Saulnier. Beyond her family, her joys and passions included baking, quilting, and singing. She will be remembered for her many contributions in the community. Through her political career as the first woman municipal councillor and numerous community involvements she touched the lives of many. Some of her most notable achievements and affiliations include first woman councillor on the Clare Municipal Council, and the first woman president of the Clare Municipal School Board, President of the NSCC Burridge Campus; member of the Board of Directors for the Little Brook Volunteer Fire Department; member of the Ladies Auxiliary; Legionnaire at the Clare Branch; an active participant on many parish committees in Saulnierville and was a member of the Board of the Tidal View Manor.
She leaves to mourn her daughters, Norine (Mark) Armstrong, Edmonton; Réjeanne (Eddie) Comeau, Meteghan; Jacinthe (Leslie) Hubley, Halifax; Lynne Le Blanc; her son, Brian (Clare) Le Blanc, Sydney; granddaughters, Natalie, Bliss, Cloé, Anna and Emilie; great-grandchildren, twins Violet and Seth, Emma and Henley; sisters, Annette (René) Comeau; Carol (Danny) Sergo; and Linda (Anthony) Comeau; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, J. Delbé Le Blanc; sister, Alice in infancy; brothers, Jake and Eric. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place, and a funeral mass will follow at a later date. In honour of her devotion to the community, donations may be made to a local charity such as the Jacky Comeau & Friends Cancer Help Fund Association, which supports persons in the Clare area, or donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
