Obituary of Jean Marie Burns
It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Marie (Stafford) Burns announces her passing on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was the loving wife of John Patrick Burns for 58 years. Born in Saint John on April 16, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (O’Leary) Stafford.
Jean Marie was always available to lend a helping hand and she enjoyed being a Girl Guide Leader at St. Pius X Parish with many camping adventures. She appreciated the support of her many special friends in her faith community.
Jean was a faithful member of St. Pius X Parish where she was the committee chair of many events. She enjoyed fundraisers for the church and the CWL. Jean held many offices in the CWL, including the organization committee. She retired from Bay City Physiotherapy Clinic with many fond memories.
In addition to her beloved husband, John Patrick Burns, Jean will be missed by many nieces and nephews; as well as her church family and special friends Linda Duncan and Brenda Rice.
She was predeceased by her parents; her only daughter, Paula Marie Burns; and her brother Donald Stafford.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 2-4 pm. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home using the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with Covid-19 protocol. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Redeemer Parish (St. Pius X Church), 316 Somerset Street, Saint John, NB on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Holy Redeemer Parish Building Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
