Jean Fleet 19362020

Jean Fleet
1936-2020
We are saddened to announce the passing of Jean (Martin)
Fleet, age 84 at Valley View Villa and formerly of Trenton, on May 23,
2020.
Born Margaret Jean Martin, she was the daughter of Elizabeth
Martin Manning and was adopted and raised by her maternal grandmother
Martha Martin in Westville, NS.
On May 17, 1958 she married Irvine Fleet and then raised
their 5 children in Trenton. While her kids were growing up, she was
involved with the Card Club and the UCW (United Church Woman),
including a stint as President. Once all the kids were in school, she
worked briefly at Zellers and Woolworth’s and then as church
secretary at First United Church, Trenton until she suffered a
ruptured brain aneurysm on May 24, 1995. Her world changed greatly
after that, leaving her with vision issues, speech deficits and
partial paralysis. We were just thankful that she was still in our
lives. Mom was a voracious reader, books before her aneurysm and then
magazines after and until shortly before she
passed. She remained at home until suffering a fall
in March 2019. She then spent 5 months in the Aberdeen Hospital before
being transferred to Valley View Villa in August
2019.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Irvine; her
daughters, Lynn and Donna; her sons, Doug, Ian (Rebecca) and Bruce;
daughters-in-law, Tracy MacGregor Fleet and Kathy Cameron Fleet; and
her grandchildren whom she adored, David (Josee) Rockey, Emily and
Madison Fleet; Matthew and Jenny Fleet. She also leaves behind her
siblings, Roddie Manning (Betty), Isabel Duggan (the late Paddy) and
Richard Norris (Peggy) as well as many nieces and
nephews.
We would like to thank the staff of 5 South at the Aberdeen
Hospital and the Elm Wing of Valley View Villa for the exceptional
care provided to Jean.
Due to COVID restrictions a family graveside service will be
held at a later date. Donation’s in Mom’s memory
can be made to First United Church, Trenton or to The Heart and Stroke
Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter
Funeral Home.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jean Fleet 19362020..
