It is with memories of a kind and gentle man, we announce the peaceful passing of Jim (Knobby) Alyward, on August 25th, 2020 at the age of 80 years.
Predeceased by his parents James and Bridget Alyward. His siblings Laura, Vera, Patrick, Thelma, Betty, Joan, Peg and Lorne Doiron. Further predeceased by his loved daughter Susie Holloway (Alyward). Finally, by his father and mother-in-law, Albert and Dorothy Mercer and brother-in-law Ian Mercer (In Infancy).
Jim leaves with wonderful memories his wife Phyllis and stepson Chad. His sons Paul (Theresa) and Jimmy (Dana). The grandchildren he admired Daniel (Emma), Stephanie and Abigail Alyward, Tyler Curnew, also, Ryan (Cheyanne) and Samantha Holloway (DJ). Jim leaves to mourn brothers-in-law Eric (Shirley) and Doug (Ella), sisters-in-law Yvonne (Ralph), Florence (Glenn), Marilyn and Sheree (Lloyd). Also leaving to mourn many members of the Alyward and Sweeney families.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John’s on Thursday, August 27th, 2-6 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Friday August 28th at 10 a.m. from Caul’s Chapel. Inurnment to take place at 2 p.m. in Bay Roberts at Saint Matthew’s Cemetery for both Jim and his daughter Susie. To view the virtual service please click on the following link vimeo.com/event/250900
