James “Jimmy” DeMerchant
1957-2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James
“Jimmy” Blair DeMerchant, at the Charlotte County
Hospital, on December 3rd, 2020, at age
63.
He was born to Ralph and Mary (Clark) DeMerchant, on August
7th, 1957. Jimmy was predeceased by his wife
Linda (Linton) DeMerchant, his parents Ralph and Mary DeMerchant, and
his brother Danny DeMerchant. He is survived by his son Jamie McLean,
step daughters Cindy Smith and Rosanne Smith(Bob), all of St. Stephen,
step-son, Ron Smith of Edmonton, Alberta, granddaughter,
Hannah Brown (Jeff), Sydney Smith, Hope Daigle, great- grandsons,
Rhetton and Reece Brown, great-great-niece, Madison Polk and
great-great-nephew, Mason Polk; plus several very special nieces and
nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by
“the boys” who he made many memories with over the
years.
Jimmy was a strong, selfless, hardworking man with a caring
heart. He never wanted to disappoint anyone and would often be found
working overtime at the Flakeboard or going out of his way to ensure
that everyone else’s needs were met before his own. He spent
many wonderful years with his wife Linda, who he has missed so dearly
since her passing in 2014. Together they made a life, and raised their
granddaughter Hannah. The love and care he showed to her was that of a
true father figure. Jimmy was truly proud of his
family.
Jimmy enjoyed his many hunting trips, and camp nights with
“the boys”. He often spoke of the good old days, and
shared stories of their many adventures.
He was a simple man with not many wants for material objects,
but he did have a love for his many GMC/Chevy Trucks that he had over
the years.
We truly appreciate all of the kindness and compassion
everyone at The Saint John Regional Hospital and Charlotte County
hospital gave to him in his final months and days. We would also like
to thank his special caregiver Courtney of Kindred Home Care for the
wonderful care she provided to him.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will be no funeral
service or visitation at this time. Condolences may be sent to the
family online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca
For those who wish, donations in memory of Jimmy may be made
to the Diabetes Society, The St. Croix Vocational Center or a charity
of one’s choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James Jimmy DeMerchant 19572020..
