Born June 9, 1933
We are saddened to announce that our Dad passed away peacefully in his 87th year on February 18, 2020, surrounded by those who loved him at the Fairview Manor in Almonte.
Jim was born in Montreal, Quebec to William & Agnes Bain (predeceased 1976 / 1990). Predeceased by his brother William (Bill), and is survived by his sisters Dilema (Jay) and Nancy (Andrew).
He is survived by his Children Sandi (Barry), Bruce (Tracy) and Cathy (Scott), his step children Karen (Todd) and Fred (Adele) who will remember his strong personality, smile and laughter. He leaves behind his Grand Children Scott (Jenna), Craig (Kaitlyn), Rielly (Kirsten), Morgan, Kyle, Chad, Shaun, Shelley and Erick. He was ever so proud to become a great-grandpa to Emery & Hunter, Adley & Brinley and Remi. Lovingly remembered by his God-daughter Katherine Morrison-Boyce.
His greatest work accomplishments that he was so very proud of was working at Expo ’67 in Montreal. Once moving his family in 1972 to Manotick, he worked for the Public Service Commission until his retirement in 1986. Jim was predeceased by the love of his life Carol (Houselander) Bain (Oct 2018). After their marriage, they worked and traveled with Carol’s Ministry practice and held homes in Kemptville, Arundel PQ, Governor NY & Winchester before Jim entered the very caring arms of the Fairview Manor in Almonte ON.
We thought we had lost our father a few times and we would like to thank all of the caregivers that visited with him in Winchester ON please know your work, care and love did not go unnoticed. Thank you.
Finally, to all of the staff that took care of Jim at the Fairview Manor. You were also his family and you brightened each and every day… he had a lot of favorites and we were ever so fortunate that when it was time to enter a care facility, Fairview Manor in Almonte was the one that was there for us. Please know that each and every one of you that saw our Father daily had a very special place in his heart, he was so pleased with the care in his new ‘home’. You helped him through the devastating time of the sudden death of his Carol, you helped heal a broken heart until he was ready to meet her again. You gave us another almost two years to see his smile and wonderful attitude towards life, while he was living with his M.S. & Cancer diagnosis.
There will be a celebration of life at the Legion in Arundel PQ for Jim & Carol in the Spring 2020 when the weather permits up in the town they loved and made beautiful memories. A time and date will be announced by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home, South Mountain (613-989-3836).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James Bain
