Jacqueline’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Dawe (nee Wiseman) announce her passing at the Red Deer Hospice on Thursday, October 15, 2020 with her husband and life partner of 31 years, Steve, and beloved daughter Emily by her side, at the age of 47, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jackie was born and raised in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, but spent her adult life in Western Canada, living in Prince George, British Columbia for many years, before moving to Red Deer, Alberta with her family. She made many friends and was loved equally by countless people in both communities, where she made a home for her family, worked and volunteered. She was a proud Newfoundlander, and loved discussing and educating people about her home province and its natural beauty and culture. Jackie was always a hard-working, humble, compassionate, and empathetic woman, traits she learned from her parents. She remained this way right up until the end. Her smile, jokes, sarcasm, singing, and warmth will be remembered fondly by family, friends, and colleagues. She made a difference in the lives of others.
Left to mourn, her husband, Steve Dawe, daughter Emily Dawe, her loving parents Gary & Leona Wiseman, brother Jason Wiseman (Holly), father and mother in law Stan and Alma Dawe, brother in-law Stanley Dawe (Contessa), sister in-law Janet Parsons (Scott), nephews Avery and Steven, and niece Hannah. As well as an extremely large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, many of whom she communicated with frequently, and her many friends in Alberta, Newfoundland & Labrador, and British Columbia.
Jackie’s family would like to give special thanks and sincere gratitude to the staff of Unit 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Dr. McCall, the staff at Red Deer Hospice, as well as her close friend, Kim Rideout, for the tenderness, compassion, and respect they showed to Jackie in her final weeks.
Jackie was predeceased by her grandparents: Leo & Annie Companion and Jack & Audrey Wiseman; as well as several Aunts and Uncles, whom we are sure were there to greet her on the other side. At Jackie’s request, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Jackie be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society (www.reddeerhospice.com/donate1.html). If you are unable to donate we ask that you spend time with your family, take a hike in the woods with a loved one, make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond, and to cuddle with your pet on the couch, because that is what Jackie would have wanted for you.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a memorial funeral mass only on Monday, November 16th, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Lainey officiating. Private family burial to follow. The family would like to thank everyone who donated to the Red Deer Hospice, your prayers for Jackie and our family, sent mass cards, cards, phone calls, messages, food to our homes. God Bless each and every one of you for your kindness.
