It with much sadness that we, the family of Jack Graves,
announce his passing on Wednesday December 09, 2020 at the Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton NB. Jack was born in Anagance
NB, in 1932 to parents Solomon and Muriel (Johnson) Graves and later
met and married his late wife Marie (Golding) Graves.
Survived by his daughter, Penny Graves (Tom Bishop), his
granddaughter Amanda Coggins (Scott Magarvey), his brother Borden
Graves (Anita) as well as several nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Jack served in the air force, followed by many years of
working for NBTel. He was a member of NB Telephone Pioneers
and the Saint John Salvage Corp. He enjoyed helping with community
events and spent many years volunteering with Festival -by-the-Sea and
supporting the old Saint John Flames hockey team. Known as Pa to his
only granddaughter, he could often be found taking “the
boss” to visit at NBTel in the early 90’s. In 1999 he
and Marie moved to Fredericton to be closer to family. In later years
he spent much of his time working with the horses on Penny’s
small farm.
Jack made an impression on everyone he met. Whether it was
meeting for coffee at Tim’s or Black’s or popping
by the feed store in town, he always brought a smile with his jokes
and stories. We will miss his cantankerous personality and big smile
but are blessed for the many years we had. Beautifully, his passing
occurs on the anniversary of Marie’s death and we are
thankful to know they are together again.
A public visitation will be held at Bishops Funeral Home on
Sunday December 13th, from 6-8 pm. Covid
restrictions and procedures will be in place and staff will be on hand
to assist the public.
For those who wish, donations in Jacks memory may be made to
the New Brunswick SPCA, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of
the donor’s choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jack Aerial Graves 19322020..
