HIRTLE – Randall E., 88, of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
Born in New Elm, Randall was a son of the late Currie and Dorinda (Zwicker) Hirtle.
Randall was an avid woodsman. He enjoyed being a lumberjack and working in the woods. Randall also worked for Kedjimkujik National Park and enjoyed animals especially horses and dogs.
Randall is survived by his sisters Frances (Clifford) Hart of Windsor, ON; Effie (Mervin) Lowe of Camden, NS; Norma Clark of Pictou, NS; Hilda O’Conner and Lynn (Tom) Prepper both of Dartmouth, NS; Evelyn (Jim) McFarlane of Winnipeg, MN; Flossie (Joe) Matthews of Gibsons, BC; Dale Jewers of Kingston, NS. His brothers Wilfred (Marion) of Berwick, NS; Glenwood (Diane) of Caledonia, NS; Douglas (Cathy) of Kempt, NS.
Besides his parents, Randall was predeceased by his loving companion Catherine Ann Baxter; his sister Eva Beaton and his brothers Berlin, James and David.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. Funeral service for Randall will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Caledonia United Church. Reverend Carol Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, West Caledonia. Family flowers only, donations may be made ta charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com . Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, all attending Randall’s service are required to bring their own mask, practice physical distancing and provide the funeral staff with contact tracing information at the door.
