Henry ‘Harry’ Frederick Dickson
1926-2020
Our Uncle Harry passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
Uncle Harry was born and raised in Summerland, BC, the son of Aretia and Dave Dickson. He was a kind, gentle, and dignified individual who remained truly independent. He moved into Angus Place two years ago from the house he was born and raised in. He enjoyed his time reading and learning from what he read. He was a true historian and knew in detail Summerland’s history and world events up until his end.
Uncle Harry was an orchardist and an outdoor enthusiast. His passions were his motorcycles, motor vehicles, flying single engine planes, skiing down the slopes, hunting, and walking. Aviation and its history was always a passion to the extent that he made two trips to Washington, D.C. to go to the Smithsonian Institute to see the Museum of Aviation.
Uncle Harry was loved by all of his family and we will truly miss him.
He is survived by nieces Aretia Morgan and family, Cathy (Don) Grewcutt and family, and Jan Carver and family; and nephews Jim (Connie) Rice and family and Daryl Eshleman and family. He was predeceased by parents Aretia and Dave Dickson, brother Herb Rice, sister Margaret (Dickson) Caldwell, brother-in-law Sandy Caldwell, sister-in-law Ruth (Tait) Rice, and niece Jan (Rice) Eshelman.
A graveside service will take place in Canyon View Cemetery, Summerland, BC where Uncle Harry will be interred.
Rest in peace, Uncle Harry. We love you.
