Tributes
Smith, Henry Elgin
October 28, 1944 – July 9, 2020
It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved Dad, Henry, at the age of 75 years. He will be remembered for his gentle manner, caring heart, wonderful sense of humor and love for his family and friends. Predeceased by wife Helen (1999); Mother Violet (1987); Father Harold (1998); Brothers Ashley and Carl. Survived and deeply missed by partner Diane; Son Trevor (Kelly); Daughters Kimberley (Carlos) and Kelley (Jeff); Loving grandfather of Nicole (Josh); Michael (Crystal); Lauren; Kelsey; Cole; Kaden; Trent; Ethan; Jamie; great-grandfather to Blakely; Rilyn; and Lawson. Brothers Hartley (Darlene); David (Marie). Henry noted these final words of wisdom for his kids and grandkids: “The value of time; the success of perseverance; the dignity of simplicity; the worth of patience; the wisdom of economy; the power of kindness; fear less hope more; whine less breathe more; talk less say more; hate less love more; procrastinate less do more”. We were so lucky to have had you in our lives. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A private service will be held at Tubman’s Garden Chapel due to the current National health crisis. A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date. Donations made in Henry’s memory, if so desired, can be directed to the Ottawa Heart Institute or his chosen charity Ovarian Cancer Canada. Condolences, tributes, and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
