Obituary of Helen Edith Campbell
Mrs. Helen Edith Campbell was born in Sus on February 24, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Eddington Jonah and Thelma (McRae) Jonah Browne.
Helen attended primary school at Sus Corner and graduated from Sus High School in 1961. After graduation from high school, Helen held several secretarial jobs working in Fredericton for the Province of New Brunswick, also in Saint John for the administrative offices of Ocean Steel and Dominion Stores. Helen served as Village Clerk for the Village of Norton for several years for which she received an outstanding service medal from the municipality. Helen subsequently became a real estate broker in Sus where she owned and operated Landmark Properties Ltd., employing up to ten agents and support staff during her successful career.
Helen’s hobbies included training, riding and showing horses, playing golf, playing bridge and she became an outstanding painter while studying under accomplished artists: Joe Collins, George Armstrong and Fred Harrison. Helen won several awards in New Brunswick art shows and her paintings are displayed in several prominent homes in New Brunswick and elsewhere.
Helen’s travels included southern USA, Spain, Morocco, Bermuda and she particularly enjoyed many trips to Newfoundland while accompanying her husband Dick on business trips.
She will live on in the hearts of her loving husband of 27 years, Dick; her children: Kevin Hourihan and his wife Ginny of Hampton, Kelly Hourihan and Andrew Reicker of Sus and Erin Marr and her husband Frank of New Line; her step children: Bruce Campbell and his wife Paulette of Toronto, Gregory Campbell and his wife Ida of Woodstock, Leanne Graham and her husband Alistair of Nova Scotia and Ian Campbell and his wife Sue of Moncton; her sister, Marion MacLean and her husband Leigh of Sus Corner; her brother, Brian Jonah and his wife Lesia of Picadilly; her sister-in-law, Joan Glenn of Ontario; her grandchildren: Ryan, Alex, Lindsay and Lauren; her step grandchildren: Marcus, Jamal, Vanessa, Zachary, Brianna, Rory, MacKenzie, Benjamin and Jillian; her step great grandchildren: Jaxon and Kairo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Helen Edith Campbell of Sus passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on June 30, 2020 at the age of 77.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Harley Jonah.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus (506-433-1176). Due to COVID-19 all arrangements will be held privately. Interment will take place in Trinity Cemetery, Sus Corner
