Helen raised 7 sons and 1 daughter, and was a devoted grandmother to 24 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Helen used her many talents, skills, and attributes to enrich her marriage, her family, and her church family.
Helen was a devoted mother and caregiver. She valued education a great deal and happily spent many hours helping her children and grandchildren with their reading and homework. She even volunteered her time to help local children improve their reading skills. Helen enjoyed travelling. She and Gerrit travelled across North America in their motor home.
Helen had a green thumb and took great pride in her flower garden and watching the birds who frequently visited. Helen had a gift with numbers and could remember all the dates of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends’ birthdays. Helen was a very spiritual person and lived her life always with her Christian values at the forefront.
