Helen Louise’s Obituary
NEW GLASGOW – Helen Louise “Weezie” DeCoste, 72, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, April 20, 2020 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital after having fought a battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born on July 23, 1947 in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Agnes (White) Curley. Prior to retirement in 2012, Louise was employed as Warranty Clerk with Anchor Motors for 38 years. She loved to read, flowers and Christmas, which was her most special holiday. Christmas Eve always found the family home filled with love and laughter from both friends and family. Louise served with the New Glasgow Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist and rarely missed a Saturday Mass. Weezie was most proud of her family and leaves them a rich legacy of love. For Louise, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Louise will be sadly missed by her husband of 49 years, Albert DeCoste; her only son, Derek (Cindy), New Glasgow, and her only grandson, Ethan, who was “the apple of her eye”; sister, Noreen (Hal) Dobson, New Glasgow; nephew, Mark (Des) Dobson, Edmonton, Alta.; niece, Jill Curley, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Corrine (Hillard) MacDonald, New Glasgow; Kaye (Donnie) Hoare, Fraser’s Mountain; Patsy (Elmer) MacDonald, Little Harbor; Janet (Rene) Pettipas, Linacy ; many DeCoste nieces and nephews; many Curley cousins; special friends, Andrea Robertson and Carol Stewart.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas “Tucker” Curley; father and mother-in-law, Mary and Peter DeCoste; sister-in-law, Dorrie ( Donald) Pitts; special friend, Jean Walsh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. John the Baptist Church, New Glasgow when the current restrictions end.
Louise’s family wish to thank, Doctors, Chris Elliott, Peter Lee, Anne Kwasnik-Krawczyk and the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit Staff for the wonderful care she received. They wish to extend heartfelt thanks to Marc and Shauna Comeau for everything they have done over the years – their kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
