Heidi Beth Bowie
July 6, 1984 – November 21, 2020
It’s with great sadness that we announce the death of Heidi Beth Bowie (McLellan) of Miramichi, on November 21 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital following a battle with cancer.
Just 36 years old, she was the loving wife of Chris Bowie, and a doting mother to three handsome boys: six-year-old Noah, four-year-old Zachary, and eight-month old Liam. She’s survived by her parents, Lois and Chris McLellan; her brother, Timothy McLellan (Jin-Young), and their children: her nephew Torben, and niece Leena. She leaves behind her grandmother, Sylvia McGuire; as well as her aunt Bev Smith (Arthur); her aunt Heather Taylor; her aunt Brenda Nicholson (Randy) all of Woodstock.
Heidi is also survived by her uncles Emmett McLellan; Harold McLellan (Angela); Wade McLellan (Janet); Dale McLellan; and her aunt Wanda McLellan all of Woodstock. She also leaves behind her in-laws Terry Bowie (Wayne Martin); her brother-in-law Jack Bowie (Daniella), and their children: her niece Marisa, and her nephew Maxime, all of Miramichi.
Heidi was predeceased by her grandparents Charlotte and Gerald McLellan; grandfather George McGuire; and her uncle Bill Taylor, all of Woodstock.
Known to many as a kind, loving soul, Heidi spent 12 years as an obstetrics nurse at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, caring for new mothers and baby boys and girls. It was a job she treasured, giving her the opportunity to spend time holding babies and coaching women through those anxious first few days.
Heidi also loved working closely with a wide array of caregivers throughout the hospital, a group of colleagues who helped rally behind her as her time in this place dwindled. She was grateful for their support, and for the support of the entire community, after she received her diagnosis and she geared up to fight. Sadly, the disease progressed more quickly than anticipated. The experience she gained as an obstetrics nurse helped prepare her for her own journey into motherhood. She was a kind, loving mother – one that seemed to understand, instinctually, exactly what her three boys needed.
Heidi loved watching them grow, learn, laugh and love, and she often spoke about how proud she was of each son. In her spare time, she loved crafting, enjoying a beverage around a bonfire, camping with her family, and listening to country music. Often, you could find her with her “sisters,” her good friends Jaime, Jodi, Meghan and the other girls.
A public visitation is scheduled for Friday, between 4-8 p.m. at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing are mandatory.
A funeral, by invitation only, will be held on Saturday, November, 28, 2020 from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel with Father John Keoughan officiating. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Bartibog Bridge, NB
