La célébration de

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Guido Antidormi in his 91st year, after a sudden and brief illness on Monday, May 25, 2020. Predeceased by his loving wife Maria-Grazia who died in 2011, beloved father of Bruno (Sandra) and Ida (Rocco), grandfather of Johnpaul, Justin, Jacob, Zachary and Noah and great-grandfather of Easton, Guido was loved by his brothers Giovanni and Antonio (both predeceased) Rocco and Enrico, his sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews along with their children.
Loved by all who knew him and his lively nature, his passions included spending time with his family, his homemade wine, home cooked Italian food, playing cards, tending to his garden, talking about the ‘good ole days’ and having lengthy telephone conversations with his loved ones. He lived a full life and was a devout Catholic parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Guido grew up in the tiny town of Cerchio in Italy. In 1959, his brother Rocco convinced him to immigrate and join him and his brothers Giovanni and Antonio in Canada in pursuit of a better life. After much deliberation, he made the big move for the good of his family. Guido spent most of his working years at the City of Mississauga as a labourer in order to offer his family a better life. He was a part of a large and interwoven Italo-Canadian community in Mississauga that was bonded together by their heritage, culture and faith. Guido was guided by and had a great devotion towards the Madonna delle Grazie who is the patron saint of his beloved home town. He returned there often and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and acquaintances. Guido worked hard and was rewarded by a life surrounded by all the things that brought him happiness.
One of Guido’s last requests was to share these few words in Italian: “Non piangete la mia assenza, sono beato in Dio e prego per voi dal cielo. Continuerò ad amarvi come vi hi amato sulla terra.”
English translation: “Don’t cry about my absence because I am in God’s blessed presence and I am praying for you all from Heaven. I will continue to love you the same way I loved you on earth.”
There will be a private funeral on Thursday May 28, 2020 and a Celebration of Life will follow post-Covid. The family wishes to thank the Trillium Hospital for their empathy and quality of care.
For those who wish, donations would be generously accepted by the family for the Trillium Hospital Foundation.
