He was predeceased by his older sister Faithe Dietz in 1961, his father Gordon in 1968 and his mother Evelyn (nee) Kirby in 1992.
He is survived by his sister Sandra Day, nephew Peter of Prince George, and his brother Joseph Eagleson of Nelson, BC. He will also be greatly missed by his many cousins and friends.
Gordon relocated to Tuxford, SK along with his family before moving to High River, AB when he was 12. He played pitcher for his ball team and was involved in the High River Active Club. He attended S.A.I.T and took courses to become a chef. As a chef, he worked at a few prestigious hotels and in his early 30’s, he left food service to work at the post office in Calgary. He transferred to Nelson in 1980 and worked for Canada Post for 25 years before retiring.
Gord, along with his brother Joe, catered many functions for family and friends over the years. He loved being active and enjoyed golfing, hiking and road trips on his motorcycle with cousins and friends. He took many trips with the Elder Hostel group; his last major trip was a trip through China with his brother Joe.
Gordon will be well remembered for his fabulous sense of humour, his quick wit, and the sparkle in his eyes. He was loved by all those who knew him, and will be dearly missed. Gordon will be interred in the High River Cemetery.
