Gordon Barry
1939 – 2020
Mr. W. Gordon Barry passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the age of 81 years. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Darcy, Aaron and Viki; their mother, Dawna; daughter-in-law, Wynter; grandson, Trent as well as his brother, Morley. He was predeceased by his son, Lee and his sister, Lorna. Gordon was born on the family homestead in Empress and grew up in Little Smokey where he loved the cattle and the way of the land where he could hunt and fish at his leisure. He was also a certified blacksmith, machinist and welder by trade. In his later years, Gordon was a member of the Lapidary Club as he loved rocks and going for coffee with his friends. Gordon’s love of storytelling will be missed! Barry will be laid to rest beside his son in the Empress Cemetery at a later date.
