Glenna’s Obituary
Newell, Glenna Almeda – 76, of Wood’s Harbour, passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Friday, October 23, 2020, with her family by her side. Born on August 19, 1944 she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Maria (Nickerson) Newell. She worked at Wood’s Harbour Fisheries in her younger years. Glenna was known to be called upon to spend time or help a friend that was in need of a helping hand. She was an avid bingo player and loved collecting angels and knitting. Glenna especially loved Christmas as it was sure to bring her visits from her boys and their families with all the little ones. She will also be sadly missed by Stanley, as well as her many family and friends that she loved to spend time with playing bingo or just having a chat over a cup of tea. Glenna leaves behind her common-law partner of 23 years, Eugene Stoddard; sons, Stewart (Dianna) Cameron of Shag Harbour, Richard (Julie) Cameron of Oak Park, Stephen (Gina) Cameron of Yarmouth and Kenneth (Angie) Cameron of Shag Harbour; grandchildren, Douglas, Amanda, Martin, Kelly, Michael, Kyle and Chelsea; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Atwood of Cape Sable Island and Merrittia Scoville of Barrington; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Glenna was predeceased by her brother, Cecil Newell; sisters, Stella Musclow and Marjorie Zuch. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 1, at 2:00 pm from Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Upper Wood’s Harbour with Richard MacAdams officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Wood’s Harbour Fire Department or any charity of choice.
