Georgina Grace “Gina”
Delaney – 79, Truro,
formerly of Belmont, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving
family, on Friday, February 28, 2020, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro. Born in Belmont, she was a daughter of the late Laurie
and Isabel (Carter) Delaney.
Georgina spent her early years in Belmont where she was
involved with the Baptist Church. She spent many years in Toronto
working in the health care profession. Returning to Truro in her later
years, she continued to work in nursing homes and private care. In her
leisure time she loved listening to country and Irish music, dancing,
traveling and attending car races with her companion,
Roy.
Georgina is survived by her children, Nancy (Ron) Baillie,
Bible Hill; Kelly Seeton (Rollie Works), Brookfield; Tim Clark
(Shelley Chown), East Mountain; grandchildren, Scott Baillie (Amanda
Garvie), Trevor Baillie (Kasey Tedford), Amy (Mitchell) Johnson, Sarah
(James) Howitt; great grandchildren, Drew Baillie, Nathaniel Howitt,
Gabriel Howitt, Evelyn Howitt, Brielle Johnson; siblings, Reginald
(Ruth) Delaney, Truro; Harold (Denise) Delaney, Bible Hill; Maude
(Don) MacPhee, Bible Hill; Evelyn (Eric) Weaver, Valley; Joan (Brian)
Ellis, North River; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister,
Jean Desmeules; brothers, Glenroy “Bud” Delaney,
Russell Delaney; companion, Roy Henderson.
Special thanks to Dr. Don Rowe for his many years of support
and Nurse Makayla and the health care professionals of
3rd floor, D-Wing, Colchester East Hants Health
Centre for their care and compassion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where
Georgina’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.,
Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Private interment in Belmont Cemetery at a
later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgina’s
memory to Kidney Foundation Atlantic (Truro Chapter) or Heart and
Stroke Foundation are welcomed. Private messages of condolence may be
