Gary Kenneth Skelding of Simcoe, Ontario

SKELDING, Gary Kenneth of Simcoe, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 37 years to Nora (nee Sullivan), father of Dean (Zelia), Terri (Gord Snell), Lee-Anne (Michelle) and Lindsay. Papa/Grandfather to Amanda, Carlye, Katelyn, Erin, Briar, Courtney, Kenny, Madison, Liam, Alex, Kevin, Jakob, Markus and Matthew; great grandpa to Abby, Aiden, Brody and Scarlett. Gary was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Vera Skelding of St. Thomas, infant brother William, sister Lois Neal and brother Don. Gary was born and raised in St. Thomas, Ontario. He served with the OPP for 25 years in several locations across the province, retiring as a Staff Sergeant from General Headquarters in Orillia. He then worked for Georgian College in Orillia for 10 years as a professor in the Police Foundations Program. Following this career, the joined Oro Medonte Township in Simcoe County as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for 3 years. Special thank you must go out to the HNHB LHIN, Care Partners, Alzheimer’s Society of Haldimand-Norfolk, H-N Senior Support Services Program . Also special thanks to Dr. Don Williamson and his staff for their assistance throughout Gary’s long battle with Lewy body Dementia. Gary will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the FERRIS FUNERAL HOME, 214 Norfolk St. South, Simcoe, 519-426-1314.
