G. Troy’s Obituary
COMEAU, G. Troy – age 49, Cape Dorset, Nunavut, formerly of Yarmouth, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2020 in Cape Dorset. Born November 28, 1970 in Yarmouth, he was the son of Bernice (Steele) Comeau, Yarmouth, and the late G. Gregory Comeau. Troy was a former volunteer firefighter with the Yarmouth Fire Department and he worked as a mechanic in Yarmouth until 1997. After moving to Iqaluit, Nunavut, he continued working as a mechanic until 2017 at which time he took a job in Cape Dorset, where he was still working at the time of his death. Troy lived life to the fullest, and although he enjoyed life in Nunavut (especially time spent with friends at The Elks), Troy looked forward to coming home in the summers and spending time at the camp on Trefry’s Lake. He loved his family dearly and will be sadly missed by them and by his many friends in Nova Scotia and Nunavut. Aside from his mom, Bernice, Troy is survived by his loving wife, Julia, as well as by children, Chad and Jamie. Also surviving are his half-brothers, Greg and Garnet and their families; his uncle Ernie (Verna) Steele, who was like a second father to Troy, as well as by his aunt, Kay Frost and cousins, especially Susan and Lisa, to whom he was very close. Aside from his father, Greg, he was predeceased by cousins, Cory Steele and Michael Wells, as well as by paternal grandparents, Henry and Pauline Comeau and maternal grandparents, Arthur and Eileen Steele. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M.
