It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fredrick Thomas Wayte on Friday February 14, 2020 at the Glenboro Health Centre at the age of 78 years.
Fred was born on May 23rd, 1941 in Glenboro, Mb. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie (Kenehan), his father Tom Wayte and step-father Norman Wayte.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother Lena (nee Calverly), son Ron (Shirley) Wayte of Landon AB, daughters Terry (Harold) Wayte-Sears of Arnprior ON and Sandy (ex-husband Francis) Peddle of Crossfield AB as well as three grandchildren, Richard Wayte, Shayna (Trevor) Filkohazy, Reid Peddle and two great-grandchildren, Callie and Stevie Filkohazy.
At the age of 16, Fred left school and joined the army in the RCEME (electrical/mechanical engineers) core as a soldier apprentice. After two years he graduated from the apprenticeship as a Group 1 craftsman vehicle mechanic. In 1968, he left the military and worked for civilian helicopters. Later on, he became a partner with Helitrade in Ontario. In 1996 Fred expanded the company into Alberta.
During his married life he and Marj moved 22 times, moving back to Glenboro in 2009 to be closer to his aging mother. His sense of adventure led them on many interesting journeys and allowed him to make many friends.
A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Thursday February 20, 2020 2:00 pm in the Willmor Chapel, Glenboro, MB with Sharon Hamilton officiating. Internment will take place at a later date in Piccadilly Cemetery, Hinchinbrook Township, Godfrey, ON.
