Fred’s Obituary
DeCOURCEY, Fred George – age 78, Yarmouth, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 23, 1942 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Harry and Helen (Smith) DeCourcey. He worked for Thompson’s Trucking and Dominion Textiles in Yarmouth before moving to Edmonton, Alberta where he worked as a school custodian until his retirement. Fred enjoyed trying his hand at winning the lottery. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel M. (Muise) DeCourcey, as well as by children, Harry (Patsy) DeCourcey, Yarmouth; Joanne Penney, Susan “Susie” (Wayne) Purdy, Marlene (Bernie) Penney, all of Edmonton, and Johnny (Brenda) Muise, Quinan, as well as by three brothers and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Wayne DeCourcey as well as by a brother. A private visitation and funeral service will take place at H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Yarmouth, with interment to follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the IWK Hospital Foundation.
