Francis Edmund Murphy 2020

Francis Edmund Murphy
May 17, 1939 – September 08, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Edmund Murphy after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by parents Edmund and Alice Murphy, sister Elizabeth, brother Douglas (Ros), and sister Brenda. Frank was the loving husband of 57 years to Jean (Hall) and father of Angela Hancock (Tony), Donna Finn (Paul), Cindy Murphy, and Gerard Murphy; grandfather of Emily, Victoria, Mark and Michael Hancock; Jessica and Teresa Finn; Sam and Jasmine Eldeyar. Also, grieving are siblings Joan Murphy, Christopher Murphy (Patricia, deceased), Mary Rebello (Philip), and Patricia McDonald (Robert), as well as extended family and friends.
Frank’s closest friend and soulmate was his wife Jean, but he also shared a warm and close relationship with each of his siblings, who came together to support him and Jean through the illness, and he was much loved by his children and grandchildren. He was an erudite man who was a lifelong learner and teacher, and who had an enthusiastic and contagious curiosity about the world which inspired his studies to become a marine biologist; his passion for reading, gardening and photography; and his travels. This legacy has been left to his children and grandchildren, and many young lives were impacted through his teaching career in various communities in Newfoundland, beginning in Cape Broyle and concluding in Placentia.
The family wishes to thank those who cared for Frank at St. Clare’s 4 West and at the Miller Center Palliative Care Unit. A family service will be held at Caul’s Chapel, LeMarchant Road on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 1:00pm.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Francis Edmund Murphy 2020..
