Francis Angus Delorey
1935-2020
Delorey, Francis Angus, 84 of Antigonish and
formerly of Monastery, Antigonish Co., died on Sunday, July 19, 2020
in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, he was
a son of the late Angus and Kathleen (DeCoste)
Delorey.
Francis was a member of
St. Peters Parish, Tracadie. He was dedicated to the parish and
community, serving in many capacities including: President of Parish
Council, President of Holy Name Society, was a founding member and
served for 54 years in the Beavers Club, was instrumental in the
construction of the Parish Hall. He also acted as an adult altar
server and Eucharistic Minister for St. Peter’s Church.
Francis was a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He worked for 1 year
with the Nova Scotia Liqour Commission then had a long career with the
Nova Scotia Liqour Licensing Board where he became Supervisor from
Amherst to Sydney. He along with his brother Eugene also operated a
carpet business and Delorey Bros. Bingo Hall in Monastery for 31
years. Anything Francis set out to do he did it enthusiastically and
to perfection. He had a generous, welcoming nature and got great
pleasure from visiting family and friends.
Francis is survived by his
siblings: Marie, Antigonish; Jackie (Dorothy), Monastery; Andrew
(Sharon), Moose Jaw Sask; Eugene, Antigonish; Seward (Ann), Monastery;
sister-in-law Annette, Stewiacke. He is survived by many nieces and
nephews all of whom feared “The Claw” from Uncle
Francis.
Predeceased by a brother
Roy and brother-in-law Donnie Pettipas.
Resting in C.L Curry
Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish with visitation on Tuesday
from 7-9 pm and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Visitors will be expected to
respect the guidelines for social distancing set out by the province
of Nova Scotia and are encouraged to wear masks at the funeral
service. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Thursday in St. Peters
Church Tracadie with Rev John Barry Presiding. Burial to follow in St
Peters Cemetery. A recording of the funeral will be available on the
funeral home website shortly after the service. Memorial donations may
