We lost our father Canada Day. The greatest man we have ever known, Floyd Churchill Marlatt, son of Peter (Clarence) Marlatt and Hazel (Churchill), loving husband of Frances (van Kaathoven), father of Brian, Gary (1958-2010), Diane and Randy.
Our father, Floyd Marlatt, was a very accomplished person – both our parents are. Beginning life with no advantages, married at 19 and 20, he was successively a steeplejack, farmer, steel plant worker, steam locomotive engineer, respected creative home builder, commercial contractor and developer sought after by other builders to build their homes, businessman owning and operating several companies, innovator and supplier to major consumer electronics retailers, and assignee to patents in security and health care aids for the physically challenged; his later years before retirement were as a restauranteur and operating services to supply the Greater Vancouver Zoo.
He was born near Scotland, Ontario, living in Dundas, Ontario before moving to Vancouver Island, later South Surrey-White Rock, and finally Honeymoon Bay where he lived with his loving wife, Frances, of 70 years, their children, and near their grandchildren, Sean and Jared, Bobbi-Jo, Amanda and Devan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Floyd Churchill Marlatt September 25 1930
