FLORENCE CHRISTINA HILL
(NEE SEAWARD)
Florence passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 in her 95th year.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Harry. Florence is survived by her children Susan (Eric), Bruce and Ralph (Winnie), her grandchildren David, Craig (Kayla), Stephanie (Nick) and Adrianne (Josh), her great grandchildren Stella, Harvey and Fletcher and many nieces and nephews across the country.
Florence and Harry met when they were both stationed at Greenwood Air Force Base in Nova Scotia. Work and studies took them to Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec before they settled in Winnipeg.
Florence enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, needlepoint and gardening. She took Parks and Recreation courses in jewelry making, lapidary and pottery. She found her passion in raku pottery. Mom enjoyed restoring the many pieces of furniture she and Dad found on their antiquing adventures. Florence travelled extensively with Harry, Ralph and Winnie and on her own. Her travels included visits to both the Antarctic and the Arctic, China, Europe and South America. She and Harry travelled extensively throughout Canada and the United States in their RV. Florence was also a long-time employee at Eaton’s Polo Park.
Mom taught all her grandchildren to play cribbage and to play well. She then proceeded to try to cheat on them for everyone’s amusement.
Florence was born in Woody Point, Newfoundland. Interment for Florence and Harry will be in the Woody Point United Church Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at River Park Gardens for their outstanding care during Mom’s stay with them.
Donations in Florence’s memory may be made to the Assiniboine Park Conservatory.
