It is with sadness that the family of the late Ferne Kathleen Winsor, age 77, of Robert’s Arm, NL announces her passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale, NL, on May 22, 2020.
Ferne was born to Wesley and Mary Winsor of Triton on October 11, 1942. She married the love of her life, Frank Winsor, on August 19, 1958. Together they had 5 children – Archie, Paul, Pat, Kelly, and Mark.
As a fish plant worker, she stood side by side with many different people, for many years, sharing many laughs. She retired a little earlier than age 65 to spend time at home doing the things she loved such as baking, knitting, chatting with her closest friends and writing her daily journal. She enjoyed church activities with her Home League group. Ferne would always welcome a crowd – often invited by Frank – with an open heart and full table followed by a good ol’ sing song.
Her pride was in her family, often talking about “da by’s” referring to her sons, who all live out of the province and frequently referring to her only daughter, Kelly, saying “idn’t she like me!” and “I had her, look see!”
In later years, Ferne was plagued by dementia. As the disease stripped away her memory, it enhanced her smile and her love of fun and laughter. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all of her many friends and family.
She is predeceased by her husband Frank Winsor; parents Wesley and Mary Winsor; sister Ruth Winsor; brothers Ralph Winsor, Mabrey Winsor, Neil Winsor; daughter-in-law Cathy MacDonald.
Ferne leaves to remember with fond and loving memories, her daughter Kelly (Roger) Morey; sons Archie Winsor, Paul (Valerie) Winsor, Pat (Donna) Winsor, Mark (Amanda) Winsor; grandchildren Laura (Wes) Winsor, Chad (Melanie) MacDonald-Winsor, Joshua (Shianna) Winsor, Cody (Jennifer) Winsor, Nathan Winsor, Samantha (Adam) Green, Shana (Clinton) Morey, Jacob Winsor, Emily Winsor; great-grandchildren Blake, Hunter, Mathias, Isabella, Christian, Mileena; special friend Almena Wiseman as well as other many other relatives and friends.
