Evelyn Rosabel Estabrooks
1920-2020
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Evelyn Rosabel
Estabrooks, 99, of Riverview, and formerly of
Sackville, NB, at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, January 12,
2020.
Born in Shirley Settlement, NB, Evelyn was the only
daughter of the late Quinton and Victoria (Barker)
Somerville.
Evelyn was a member of the Lower
Fairfield Quilting Club, and had an avid interest in rug hooking,
cooking, sewing and knitting. She had a delightful sense of
humour, and enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, dice and going to the
horse races with her husband, Francis. Evelyn was very fond of animals
and always had cats and dogs in her home.
She was a devoted and loving wife,
mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Evelyn will be dearly missed by her
children, Wayne, Edmonton, AB, Gail Estabrooks, Riverview, Gregory
(Sharon), Quispamsis, Garnet (Linda), Lower Sackville, NS, Janet (Ron)
Smith, Riverview, Lorraine (Allan) Smith, 150 Mile House, BC; nine
grandchildren, Shawn, Craig (Jen), Leah, Tracy (Chris), Tammy
(Jonathan), Garnet (Shawna), Michael (Tami), Carrie (Alex) and Bonita
(Al); sixteen great grandchildren; a brother, Bill, and several nieces
and nephews.
Besides her parents, Evelyn was
predeceased by her husband, Francis G.J. Estabrooks; an infant
daughter Glenda; a grandson, Gregory; a granddaughter, Aimee; two
brothers, Sterling and Nelson; a half brother, Jim; daughters-in-law,
Betty and Pat, as well as her sisters-in-law, Ruth, Vivian, Linna, and
Idabelle.
Arrangements for Evelyn are under the
care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home,
70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where a time of
visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 1 pm until
the time of the funeral at 2 pm. Interment will be held in the
Sackville Cemetery in the Spring. Pastor Dan Basham
presiding.
The family wishes to express their
heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bandyayera, the staff of the Moncton
Hospital and Spencer’s Nursing Home for their compassion and
care.
Donations in memory of Evelyn may be
made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or a charity of the
donor’s choice.
