MILLER, Evelyn
Went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 30, 2020 one month shy of her 97th birthday. Predeceased by one year by her husband of 57 years Alan Miller of Bruce Mines. Loving mother to Alan Paul and D.J. (Glenn Martin) and grandmother to Cody Simon, Andrew Martin, Alana Miller and Taylor Martin. Special Aunt Evie to her sole surviving niece Norma Jean Armstrong of Bruce Mines and an inspiration to many great-nieces and nephews John, Rob and Tammy Armstrong (Graham) and Mark, Barbara and Candice Foster (Kopal) and their children.
Evelyn Miller was well known along the North Shore for her many years in real estate, retiring at the age of 93 as a Lifetime Member of the Sault Ste. Marie Real Estate Association. She was a trailblazer, joining the Royal Canadian Air Force as soon as she was old enough during WWII, and spent her long life witnessing to others based on her deep and unwavering faith. Evelyn was a visionary and the driving force behind many initiatives including Camp Aush Bik Koong in Walford (1958), Light Haven Home in Bruce Mines (1979), Bruce Mines Christian Day Camp (1966), and the Northern Ontario Womens’ Missionary Conference (1965) all of which are active to this day. Despite a lifetime of service and ministry to others, she made sure that the focus was never on her, but “To God Be the Glory” – also the title to one of her favorite hymns.
