Obituary
Evelyn (Ev) Bly (1937-2020)
Mom passed away peacefully in her home on the farm on July 16, 2020. Diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in May, Mom was surrounded closely by her family up until her passing. It was our privilege to care for Mom in her final weeks, to honour the way she cared for us and so many others her entire life. Mom will be remembered most as a loving caregiver to many family and friends, especially to her four grandchildren Josh, Gabby, Vaeda and Arden, and her Goddaughter and niece Jill. Never one to complain, even in her final days Mom was more worried for the health and feelings of her family than she was for herself.
Mom leaves behind a legacy of love, caring, cooking, and gardening. She was a dedicated farm wife to Karl, and lived her entire married life on the farm, raising Brent and Brad, feeding all the workers, paying bills, taking care of the yard, and many other responsibilities essential to the farm’s success. She loved watching curling and hockey and was a 30-year Blades season ticket holder. In her retirement, she loved to do her ‘exercises’ at the YWCA and have coffee or lunch with her friends. Mom’s instilled values of kindness, thoughtfulness, and consideration for those less fortunate in the world will stay with us for generations to come. Mom was an amazing person; we will miss her deeply and never forget her but are comforted in knowing she is now back together with Dad in a wonderful place.
Ev was born in Lajord, SK to Harry and Rose Obrigewitsch. She was one of seven children: Lawrence, Ray, Ted, Ev, Annabelle, Hank and Tim. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Lawrence, her sister Annabelle (died as an infant), and her husband Karl.
Brent and Stacy (Josh and Gabby) and Brad and Chantel (Vaeda and Arden) wish to thank everyone who provided support and prayers in moms final weeks, with special thanks to her nurse Mary Anne Rogers and the palliative home care team, and family friend Carolyn Morin. We will be having a private
