Obituary of Ethel McKay
McKAY- Ethel McKay (nee Denton) passed away at Northland Pointe, Port Colborne on December 2, 2020 at the age of 98 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband James in 1977, and most recently by her devoted daughter Christine Oct 26, 2020, and sister Mildred in Nov. 2020. She is survived by her sons Mike (Patti), Terry (Helen), Neil (Joan) as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her sister Eva; brother Harry and extended family remain in England. Ethel was born in Pool in Wharfedale North Yorkshire England. She proudly worked in her teens during WWII in an Avro airplane assembly factory. She married James, in the Royal Navy, at the age of 20 and in 1952 she bravely immigrated to Canada aboard the Empress of Canada with their 3 children under 5yrs of age, to find them all a new home in Canada. They built two homes, one in Gasline and another in Morgan’s Point where they lived a productive and happy life with their four children. Ethel made many friends working in Port Colborne, most recently Sears, until her retirement. She enjoyed family and friends, the lake, baking, crafting, and pets until afflicted with multiple physical challenges. Family wish to extend appreciation to her faithful friends, notably Sharon W., and all the excellent caring staff of NP, particularly Port Place, in these sad and challenging pandemic times. A private family gathering took place Dec 5 at Morgan’s Point Cemetery, where she was interred together with her daughter Christine, beside her husband. If desired, memorial donations are suggested to the CNIB or Arthritis Society. Online guest register and condolences are available at www.davidsonfuneralhome.com.
