by many nieces, nephews, and her large extended groups of family and
friends.
Ethel loved children, all social gatherings, dancing with
Austin, and being with people wherever she found herself. As #five of
17 siblings, she grew up surrounded with children and family and built
her own loving family while active as a farm wife, caring host for
many years at Penderosa Cottages and Campground, and as a community
volunteer through many organizations. She was proud of her lifetime
memberships in the Catholic Women’s League and Women’s Institute and
her awards, together with husband Austin, from the Tourism Association
of PEI. Ethel loved every gathering, often entertaining everyone with
her stories and reminiscences; she was famous for socializing with
everyone in the room, whether it was a party or a restaurant. She was
loved by many and had an extraordinary ability to deeply touch the
hearts of family and friends far and wide.
