Obituary
Ervin Garvie of Owen Sound passed away peacefully at GBHS on November 5, 2020. Ervin was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Joan Garvie (Ronald) (2016), his son Ron (2011), his daughter Patti Garvie-Tannahill (Bruce) (2014), his parents Peter and Melissa Garvie of Kilsyth, brothers Hector, Roger, Wilbur, Gordon and sisters Muriel Robinson and Lois Roberts. Ervin is survived by his children Karen (Steve Lynn), Steven, Doug (Nancy) and Mike (Pauline). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Jacquelyn (Henry), Danielle Bulaon (Fernando), Christina Blackwood (Keith), Angela, Roger, Kevin (Jody), Madison Kwiecien (Marcien), Melissa Pegelo (Chad) and Mike Ferrier (Chelsey) and 13 great grandchildren: Elise, Vienna, Ryan, Kingston, Destiny, Kadian, Darien, Andrew, Breanna, Kyle, Abby, Leuwin and Koa, a sister Mary Mantle and a sister-in-law Judy Garvie and sister-in-law Carolyn Bodnar.
Ervin was a semi pro baseball pitcher before he graduated from Queens University and taught Physical Education and Health at West Hill Secondary School. Ervin was an avid sportsman, a golfer, fisherman and enjoyed squash. Ervin loved his Raptors and Blue Jays and enjoyed the challenge of investing online. Ervin and Joan took their family of 6 children and a dog camping throughout Ontario and coast to coast during the summers with many happy memories. The neighbourhood on 4th Avenue West will remember his legendary ice rinks. Ervin Garvie will be sincerely missed by his family.
Memorial donations to the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
