March 12, 1947 – December 18, 2020
Eric Joseph Nash, age, 73. Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family at Lanes Retirement Living on Friday, December 18, 2020. Predeceased by his parents Lillian and Arthur; sister Lillian; brother in law Gary, sister in law Madonna and niece Erin. Leaving to mourn his most cherished treasure of 50 years Mary (Carey); children Robyn (Shane), Michael (Jennifer); grandchildren Claire, Zachary and Kali. Brothers Arthur and Glenn (Cheryl); sisters Frances English (Leonard), Rosalind Downey, Virginia Nash; brothers in law Gordon (Patricia), William (Carolyn), Matthew (Patricia), Pierce (Lorna), Howard (Madonna); sisters in law Catherine Head (Angus) and Jackie Carey Nash (Douglas). Also, a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. With special thanks to Jim Maher and Douglas Callahan.
Retired RNC officer, Eric’s passion was to help and protect others. He joined the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in 1967. Throughout his career he worked diligently to keep the people of St. John’s safe. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and took great pride in his work. He went onto work in security at a number of job sites around Newfoundland. He loved to go fishing, hunting and skidooing with his buddies. To all who knew him, he always spoke very highly of his children and grandchildren who he was incredibly proud of. The love of his life, Mary has been his rock throughout his entire life and especially in the last few years, for that, he is eternally grateful.
A special heartfelt thanks of appreciation to the staff at Lanes Retirement Living in Airport Heights. The level of care, compassion and love shown to Eric and our family was incredible. We can never repay the kindness that we received.
Cremation has taken place, resting at Caul’s Funeral Home on LeMarchant Road. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2 p.m. from Caul’s Chapel LeMarchant Road.
