Obituary
Boechler, Eric Jack
1939 – 2020
Eric Boechler passed away peacefully on the morning of November 25, 2020 at the age of 81 in Saskatoon. Eric was predeceased by his wife Sharon in 2011 and is survived by his sons Brad (Keely), Curtis (Dione) and Randy (Lindsey). He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Billie, Jack, Natasha, Nicholas, Avery, Joelle and Ava, all who he loved to spend time with and to pass on his wisdom, love and great sense of humour. Eric took a special interest in their lives and took great joy in hearing of their many accomplishments. Eric is also survived by his brothers Richard (Helen), Jim (Pattie), Dennis (Nina) and his sisters Evelyn, Pat (Gerald), Marilyn (Harold) and Jean.
Eric met Sharon in his hometown of Allan, SK and soon moved to Saskatoon where he spent his career at SIAST in the Carpentry Department. When not at work, Eric could be found in the garage working on making cabinets or other projects, the smell of sawdust was one that permeated the house and will always bring fond memories.
Eric’s legacy will include the many houses that he built in his hometown of Allan, the thousands of structures built by his students over the years and on the many projects that he expertly designed for his sons, even if they weren’t expertly constructed by them.
Eric loved to teach and to pass on his knowledge to his students, family and anyone who needed help. The countless hours that he spent volunteering, coaching or just watching his sons play baseball, hockey, football and soccer can not be adequately appreciated. Eric would build a hockey rink in the yard in winter and a backstop in summer and the house was always full of family and friends from the neighbourhood. Eric loved to spend the summers camping and had a chance to travel with Sharon in retirement on several cruises.
Even in failing health over the years, Eric never lost his purpose, sense of humor or positive attitude. He kept the staff at Oliver Lodge entertained and well trained during his time there and we would like to thank the staff for their care and friendship over the years.
Please remember Eric and his family in your thoughts and prayers. No Funeral Service will be held at this time. Arrangements in care of Aimé Laventure – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
